A refund to a bank card means that, based on the merchant's decision, the full or partial amount of the original card transaction is returned to the customer.
A refund is always tied to the original payment transaction, so for card purchases it is primarily carried out through the original payment method.
During the refund process, the amount moves from the merchant's Barion wallet to the card-issuing bank — that is, the customer's own bank.
The refund can be initiated based on the merchant's or the Event Organizer's decision.
The refund is processed within Barion's system.
When the amount appears on the customer's account depends on the card-issuing bank's internal process.
The refund can happen in real time on Barion's side, but crediting the amount to the customer's bank account can vary depending on the card-issuing bank's processing time.
Neither the merchant nor the payment provider has any influence over how long the card-issuing bank takes to credit the amount to the customer's account.
If the bank card has expired, been cancelled or replaced, the automatic card refund may fail.
In this case, the customer may receive a notification from Barion that the refund cannot be completed.
- Forward the notification you received from Barion to [email protected].
- Provide the bank account number the refund can be sent to.
- Send your bank account number, not your new card number.
- Once the necessary details are processed, the refund can be completed via bank transfer.
For a failed card refund completed via manual bank transfer, the conditions and possible administrative fee set out in our General Terms and Conditions may apply.
Starting a refund does not mean the amount immediately becomes visible on the customer's bank account. Bank processing time depends on the card-issuing bank's internal processes and business decisions.
